I read about a rare neurological condition where 2 or more senses combine. Scientists are not exactly sure why it happens and there are 8 different documented types. The first one called Grapheme-color synesthesia is the most common and is where numbers or letters are associated witht different colors. Then there is Chromesthesia which is also more common and pairs sounds with colors. Then there's spatial sequence synesthesia (SSS) tend to see numerical sequences as
points in space. For instance, the number 1 might be farther away and
the number 2. Number form is another version and is a mental map of numbers that automatically and
involuntarily appears whenever someone who experiences number forms
thinks of numbers. Tactile synesthesia is where certain sounds can induce sensations in parts of the body. Misophonia is where negative experiences (anger, flight, hatred, disgust) are triggered by specific sounds. Mirror touch is one of the rarer form of synesthesia where individuals literally feel the same sensation that another person feels and lexical-gustatory is the other rare form of synesthesia where certain tastes are experienced when hearing words. While its called a neurological disorder it ha no classification and research into it has died off as the phenomenon tends to lend to the creative process for most instead of harms.
